on June 12th as we join with the world."

Join with us on Pentecost Sunday, June 12, 2011 as we join with millions of believers around the world to worship, pray and proclaim the Lordship of Jesus Christ over the nations. Our theme this year is "Shaking the Nations", and by looking at geopolitical and economic events around the world, there appears to be major disturbances in many nations including the Middle East and Japan. The Bible declares in Haggai 2:6-7 "This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations and what is desired by all nations will come and I will fill this house with glory’ says the LORD Almighty."

As in previous years, together with worship, pastors and leaders from across the region will lead us in repentance and prayer for Edmonton and Area, Canada and the world. Worship will include the Edmonton Chinese Christian Choir which will have over 25 voices joining together from different Chinese churches to praise the Lord.

Our major presenter will be Greg Musselman of The Voice of the Martyrs who has travelled to many nations, difficult to reach with the gospel, to encourage the persecuted church. (see http://www.persecution.net ).

Global Day of Prayer began in the year 2000 as a vision to transform Africa, where, in the subsequent years, prayer events have filled stadiums with over 22 million Africans participating in 2004. In 2008, the event continued to expand globally and churches and Christians from six continents and 214 countries were involved. In 2009 and in 2010 millions of believers from 220 nations of the world participated.

In Edmonton & Area, the 2011 Global Day of Prayer, for all denominations, now in its seventh year, is to be held at Calvary Community Church, 8704 Mill Woods Road, Edmonton (for directions click on the link http://www.calvarycommunity.ca/about/directions/).
